California has a pending bill- Bill 178- similar to one passed in NY last year. The bill will tax out of state advertisers for any marketing done in or by residents of California. In a coalition lead by the Performance Marketing Alliance (PMA), many fear that this bill will cause advertisers outside California to cut relationships with their publishers and agencies in the state. The PMA is working with the California Chamber of Commerce and the California Taxpayers association to help kill this bill. Here are some ways that you can help:
1. Sign The PMA group letter
2. If you are in California, Write a letter to your State Assembly Member
3. Join the PMA on March 31st as they lobby in Sacramento. To join in on the day, email: lobby_day@performancemarketingalliance.com.
As we’re Located in NY, Direct Agents’ feels their pain. Join the PMA and support our online advertising neighbors and colleagues today!
